OVERVIEW

CrunchTime is the go-to mobile app for fun and intuitive fitness. It empowers users to establish and sustain consistent workout routines, schedule upcoming workouts, and join a community of like-minded individuals. With CrunchTime, achieving your fitness goals has never been more accessible, enjoyable, and attainable

BACKGROUND

Many people aspire to improve their physical health and fitness levels, so they often join a gym with high hopes and motivation. However, it is common for gym members to lose their enthusiasm and drop out within the first year, leaving behind their fitness goals. To tackle this prevalent issue, CrunchTime wishes to identify the root causes of gym member disengagement and abandonment of fitness objectives and develop effective solutions to address these challenges.

INSPIRATIONS

CrunchTime is more than just a mobile workout application; it is a platform that aims to inspire and empower individuals to live healthier and more fulfilling lives. From personalized workout plans to a supportive community of like-minded individuals, CrunchTime is designed to help users stay on track and achieve their fitness objectives.

Problems

SECONDARY RESEARCH

I developed a survey questionnaire and distributed it to 25 individuals to gather insights into their workout preferences. The questionnaire covered various topics, including preferred exercise times, types of exercise, fitness goals, shared accountability, age, and how the participants could use a fitness product to foster social connections.

TARGET AUDIENCE

I conducted a survey that inquired about people's interest in shared accountability and achieving fitness goals. The survey was sent to 34 participants, and based on the results, I identified three primary target audience groups.

PERSONAS

Three personas based on the three types of the target audience

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

SKETCHES

I began by creating preliminary sketches that showcased my vision for CrunchTime. The hand-drawn sketches below display the main screens and task flow. to the three common barriers to achieving fitness goals:

WIREFRAMES

I created low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the primary task flows, which included adding a workout partner, sharing a snapshot of fitness activity, and submitting evidence.

Task 1: adding a workout/accountability partner

Cristina wants to add a workout partner for shared accountability. Who is also an app user

USER TESTING

I performed two rounds of user testing, with four participants in each round. In the first round, I provided the participants with my low-fidelity wireframes and asked them to complete three tasks. I recorded their comments and used their feedback to make improvements to my wireframes.

Using the feedback from the first round of testing, I developed high-fidelity wireframes, which I presented to the participants in the second round of testing. I collected their feedback and distilled my findings into three main points.

FINAL DESIGN

Personalized Browsing Experience

The home page to also serve as a broadcast feed. This means that whenever users launch CrunchTime, they are immediately taken to the home page where they can engage with the latest updates and stay motivated to achieve their fitness goals

Make connections

To enhance user engagement and promote a sense of community, we designed the app to facilitate easy connections between users, allowing them to interact and build relationships around shared interests.

Manage fitness goals

To help users achieve their fitness goals and stay on track, we designed the app with intuitive tools for setting and tracking progress toward goals, personalized recommendations, and social support from a community of like-minded individuals.

Quick fitness stats

To provide users with a clear and quick overview of their activity stats, we designed the app with a concise yet informative preview that displays key metrics and trends at a glance, without overwhelming users with too much data.

CONCLUSION

Throughout this experience, I gained valuable insights that I had not fully considered before, particularly in terms of feasibility and gamification. The importance of keeping users engaged through gamification strategies became evident to me, and I plan to explore this further in my future work.

Although this project was limited, I recognize its potential and am eager to continue working on it. With additional resources and time, I aim to transform this idea into a fully functional app that delivers a compelling user experience.
